  JA of Newfoundland & Labrador

Junior Achievement Communities

Over the past 25 years, Junior Achievement of Newfoundland and Labrador has experienced tremendous growth. Since its beginnings in the Metro St. John's area, Junior Achievement has expanded to Central and Western Newfoundland and Labrador. To expand to these regions, area committees have been established in many communities throughout our province.

Membership of area committees is comprised of key community representatives who have a vested interest in enhancing the business education of youth.

Area Committees are responsible for:

  1. Establishing local fund raising initiatives.
  2. Recruiting and supporting volunteer business consultants and sponsors for JA programs.
  3. Developing and sustaining partnerships with schools and school boards to ensure program success.
  4. Recognizing volunteer and sponsor commitment.
  5. Recording and reporting committee activities to JA staff and Board of Directors.

Two key elements are required to have a successful area committee: Commitment and Teamwork. Believing in the cause and working together to achieve our goals will ensure the success of JA in our communities and strengthen JA in our province.

The committees that exist today have been the catalyst behind JA. It is because of their perseverance that more than 60,000 youth have had the privilege of growing from the JA experience.

You can be a part of this growth. If you are interested in establishing a Junior Achievement area committee in your community or would like to join an existing committee, please contact Sandra Patterson, President & CEO at spatterson@janl.org
