Who We Are

Junior Achievement (JA) was established in Newfoundland and Labrador in 1985 serving 159 students. Today, JA programs range from virtual self-directed programs and webinars to half- and full-day in-class programs to 21-week intensive after-school programs led by teachers, JA staff and business volunteers. Cumulatively, over 140,000 students in this province have had a JA educational experience. JA in this province is funded primarily by private sector donors and JA’s signature annual event, the JA Newfoundland and Labrador Business Hall of Fame.

JA Newfoundland and Labrador is a member of JA Canada. Founded in 1955, JA Canada is the country’s largest youth business education organization. JA works in partnership with educators, volunteers and businesses to educate students about financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. JA is a registered charity and trusted partner in the Canadian school system.

With a network spanning six continents and serving over 10 million students, JA Worldwide is the global leader in work-readiness, financial-literacy, and entrepreneurship education for young people ranging in age from 5 to 25.

The impact of JA Worldwide has been recognized for the fourth year in a row by the dot good, formerly NGO Advisor, an organization that ranks and celebrates the ten most impactful social good organizations worldwide.
